Since 2013, I have repeatedly passed the “Alte Schmiede” on my way to the harbor. And from time to time, the desire to breathe life back into this venerable place grew in me. The condition of the buildings, some of which were listed, was depressing. Not everything has survived the test of time. In September 2017, I was able to find the owners of the “Alte Schmiede” and was given the opportunity to buy it. After only 7 months of construction, major challenges and with the help of many hard-working and experienced

hands, the “Alte Schmiede” in Geierswalde has now become a place to live again. The forge fire has gone out, but not the memory and the power of this place. A place where families and friends can now spend an unforgettable time together, recharge their batteries and find peace and quiet, not far from the shores of Lake Geierswald in the heart of the Lusatian Lakeland.
